Kevin Mitnick, famous former black hat hacker, demonstrates just how easy it is for a hacker to tap into your network and read your email. And he's doing it with a fiber optic network connection, not a simple and very non-secure CAT5x or CAT6x network wire. And he doesn't have to connect to the Internet, your network, or any outside resources to do this. He clamps onto a fiber optic "wire", opens Wireshark, and sniffs away your most guarded secrets.

Yes, yes, very good. "This is what a fibre junction looks like" he says, pointing to an image on the screen of a laptop, that we do not see. Then he points to a cassette (which we also can't see clearly) and appears to only actually have one fibre connected to it - so it isn't carrying any data anywhere. Then he points to a "fibre tapping device", which is out of focus and is nowhere near the cassette. At no time do we get a clear view of the mess of wires and fibres on the table. @1:58 "... and it's not hooked up directly into this connection but what we're doing is we're simulating a tap, a fibre tap ..." Very unconvincing! And yes, we all know about Wireshark. What's this guy actually demonstrating? Anything? Is it simply a case of BBB?
Probably he is using a Man In The Middle "attack" I'm not sure. By the way I've noticed the same things as you. Furthermore I don't understand how is possible to capture the traffic with Wireshark from outside the company and so outside the LAN (maybe I misunderstood the meaning).

When he mentioned wireshark it made me frustrated cause I need to visit the hac5 shop again to order one XD

I heard from his reddit ama he was still on probation so he wasn't aloud to use a computer so the computer was a prop and it was being used remotely
